Do you ever have those days when it's hard to get out the door and go for a run? Have you ever thought about cutting your long run short because you're bored or unmotivated to finish? A running playlist can be very important. It can make the difference between getting out the door and completing a workout or sitting inside and making up excuses for not going on a run.
Sometimes, all I need to get pumped up for a workout is to put on a couple of my current favorite songs, and I'm ready to hit the pavement.
Music can help me push through those last miles of a long run when it starts to get mentally and physically challenging. It helps me tune out the voice in my head telling me to stop running...it's almost like a second wind for me.
I don't recommend listening to music during all workouts, such as those that require concentration like a speed workout. However, some good tunes can be quite the treat during a LSD (long slow distance) run or while getting in those junk (easy) miles.
We all have our reasons for listening to music on our runs.
If you're looking for some new additions to your playlist, here are a few of my current favorites:
1. Thunderstruck by AC/DC
2. Feel It Still by Portugal. The Man
3. Whatever It Takes by Imagine Dragons
4. The Middle by Jimmy Eat World
5. The Greatest by Sia
6. Crazy Train by Ozzy Osbourne
7. Geronimo by Sheppard
8. Try Everything by Shakira
9. Thunder by Imagine Dragons
10. The Final Countdown by Europe
That's all for now. I hope these help you get through your next challenging run! Comment below with some of your favorites!
Now, go make those miles matter!
Until next time,
Coach Sarah
